On June 5-9, 2023 the Governor’s School Safety Bureau (GSSB) and the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting an ALERRT Level 1 Train the Trainer course in Sloan, Iowa. This is a 5-day free of cost Law Enforcement only training event. The ALERRT Level 1 course is designed to be an entry-level course on how to respond to active shooter events to include arrival, entry, search, encounter, security, incident command and medical aspects of the event. There is no prerequisite for this training but preferred experience in tactical, firearms and or LE training. This training is vital to be able to instruct and outfit all area Law Enforcement with common knowledge for an active shooter event. This course will prepare the attendee to be able to complete the delivery of the Active Shooter Level 1 course of study by providing:
The course is limited to 24 students, this is to allow the attendees time to learn and demonstrate the skills learned during the course. When: June 5-9, 2023; 0800 – 1700 each day Location: Westwood Community School, 1000 Rebel Way, Sloan, Iowa 51055 Sign-up: You must register for the class via the ALERRT website. Please go to the ALERRT.org website (click for link) and create a student account by clicking Log in and then when you have set up an account click on the student website and then Online Registration. Register to attend by adding course number #15764. The course material will be delivered via the website so you must sign-up via the website to attend. A laptop, tablet or phone is strongly suggested for reviewing course materials for the teach back portion of the course. The lead instructor is responsible for approving each person that registers and once approved ((if the course isn’t full) they will receive an attendance confirmation email. Students are provided with all lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, student manuals and related courseware so they are prepared to deliver the course after successful completion.
