Jones County Hiring Jail Officer

The Jones County Jail Administrator is now accepting applications for the position of jail officer. This is a full-time position that includes the county benefits package. Starting pay is $21.85 hour with continual step raises. Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age; have a high school diploma or equivalent; be able to work various hours Monday-Sunday and holidays; is of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation; is not by reason of conscience or belief opposed to the use of force, when appropriate or necessary to fulfill the person’s duties; has the ability to perform the essential elements of the position as defined in department job specifications; able to follow jail policy and procedures; be able to read and write the English language; possess a valid driver’s license; computer knowledge preferred;

Applications may be picked up at the Jones County Sheriff’s Office (basement of courthouse) OR downloaded off the Jones County Iowa website – www.jonescountyiowa.gov.  Click Resources in the upper right hand corner of the opening page - select Employment on the drop down menu and click on the icon for the Employment Application.  Submit completed application, resume and cover letter via ONE of the following three methods:
